Tell us about Mani’s project.
Ponniyan Selvan, as the film is tentatively titled, will be made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, on a budget of Rs 100 crore. The pre-production work is on and the film is expected to roll in September/October. I will be playing a character called Arulmozhi Varman, who later becomes Raja Raja Chola. The film is based on one of the most popular novels in Tamil, written by Kalki Krishnamurthi, the celebrated writer. It’s a classic.
Arya and Mahesh Babu are said to be playing other roles.
I can’t comment on the cats and the crew.
As per close sources, Mahesh playing the main hero role (Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan) & Arya as Prince ( Adithya ).
Surya out Vijay in for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan movie

Earlier we had told you about Surya and Vikram being considered for the next Mani Ratnam flick titled Ponniyin Selvan which is based on a Tamil historical novel by the same name. We know that Surya is busy with many other projects lately and the news that Mani had a preference for Vikram in the lead didn’t sit well with Surya as the hero was not interested for a secondary role in the movie.

Now we have come to know that Vijay and Vishal have been added to the cast along with Vikram. Surya as of now doesn’t seem to be a part of the picture as Vijay seems to be grabbing all the hotspots earlier reserved for Surya, earlier it was Nanban and now it’s the same case with Ponniyin Selvan.
There are talks that Sun Pictures will be putting in a staggering Rs.200 crores for this project and Ilayaraja is also being considered for the musical department. After director Shankar’s Nanban Surya is missing out on another prestigious offer alongside veteran director Mani Ratnam who is keen on fleshing out the characters of his new team that includes Vijay,Vishal and Vikram.

Finaly all rumours come to an end thay vijay is confirmed in tamil remake of 3 Idiots,Vijay would be the lead role in tamil remake of 3-Idiots. The movie would be directed by none other than ace director, Shankar and Harris Jeyraj will score the music part. Vijay Part of the scene will start from march onwards where-in Vijay would be acting in 3-idiots as well as in Velayudham simultaneously .

So its finally confirmed that Vijay would be acting in tamil remake of 3-idiots.
Vijay-Ileana in never-seen-before costumes
Costumes in Shankar's films have always impressed the audience. Be it the old man getup of Kamal Hassan in Indian or Rajinikanth's superhero look in Endhiran, the filmmaker has been taking an extra care towards his actors attires and make-ups. Now, the director is doing the same for his forthcoming film Nanban.

According to reports, Shankar is leaving no stone unturned to show his lead actors in colourful way on silver screen. The director has chosen special attires and costumes for Vijay and Ileana D'Cruz for a song, which is currently being filmed in Chennai. The actors will be seen in never-seen before getups and different make-ups, add reports.

Vijay is said to be having four special getups and Ileana has some different looks in the song. The actors are spending close to two hours each to get their make-up done and remove it for the song, which is being choreographed by Farah Khan.

Meanwhile, sources have said the rumours on Ileana's ankle injury are false. The actress is fine and actively working on the song. Nanban, which is a remake of Bollywood movie 3 Idiots, will hit the screens in Diwali.

Vijay-Angela Johnson's hush-hush photoshoot
It is confirmed. Angela Johnson is donning the grease paint for the first time in AR Murugadoss directorial film. The Kingfisher model is pairing up with Vijay in the upcoming Tamil film.The photoshoot of the movie was recently held in a film studio in Chennai. Shankar's Nanban completes 98.8888% shoot



Shankar's Nanban, a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots, has completed 98.8888% of shooting and the remaining 1.1112% will be finished by September first week. The filmmaker announced the progress of the movie on his website.He posted, “we’ve successfully completed 98.8888% of the film, and the rest 1.1112% is one song and a quarter of another song, will be shot in the first week of September.” The movie, which went through some hiccups initially, is on the right track to hit the screens.....

Hey this is not about the popular Star TV channel! Here Vijay is our Ilaya Thalaipathi. The Hero of the Masses is going to take on the channel way. Vijay will soon bring out a satellite channel, for which he has recently obtained the license. It is said that the license is in his father S A Chandrasekar’s name.
Another Vijay-named actor also has the same plan. Captain Vijayakanth is gearing up to bring a channel under his name, with the support of his DMDK party. It seems that the actor-politician is now busy short listing candidates to be a part of this channel.

In a public meeting organized here, Tamil actor and playback singer Vijay has slammed the state and central governments for remaining mute spectators to attacks on fishermen.

In a public meeting organized here, Tamil actor and playback singer Vijay has slammed the state and central governments for remaining mute spectators to attacks on fishermen.
Addressing a 20000- strong gathering, Vijay asked the people to send telegrams to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, asking them to take concrete action to end the attacks.
He also gave a sum of Rupees 2 lakh to the family of a fisherman killed in a naval attack.
The harassment of Indian fishermen by Lankan naval authorities has been a longstanding issue between both two countries.
India shares an expansive oceanic border with Sri Lanka without any perceptible demarcation. Fishermen on both sides tend to ignore rules while fishing, due to which fishermen from both nations stray into each other's territory and end up spending years in jail for trespassing the invisible border.

TAMIL cinema hearthrob Vijay has declared that he will eventually give up cinema for politics, reported Malaysia Nanban.
Vijay said he wanted to build a loyal fan base in Tamil Nadu.
This is so that, when he makes the switch, his fans will vote for him.
Vijay’s recent movies bombed at the box office while his latest Tamil film Kavalan is facing a slew of problems getting released.
Vijay’s father and director S. A. Chandra-shekar’s meeting with AIADMK secretary-general and former chief minister J. Jayalalitha at her residence to discuss the coming state elections has fuelled speculation that Vijay could be launching his political career sooner rather than later.
A meeting with All-India Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi in April last year also had tongues wagging about the actor’s political leanings.
> Makkal Osai reported that political analyst and journalist Cho S. Ramasamy has asked the DMDK political party – led by actor Vijaykanth – to ally with Jayalalitha’s opposition party AIADMK to take on the “corrupt” DMK government of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
