He said Vijayakanth, who had been having problems with the DMK government, should seriously consider the option.
He said any action by Vijayakanth to go it alone would only help the DMK.
Actor Vijay’s party to contest in civic polls
Actor Vijay’s Makkal Iyakkam is all set to contest the ensuing local body elections in the state.
His father and film director S. A. Chandra-sekar told Deccan Chronicle that the actor has given the green signal to his fans to contest the polls in consensus with the local AIADMK functionaries.
He said the volunteers of Makkal Iyakkam made a fervent appeal to the actor to contest the civic polls as they felt “they wanted some recognition.” Heeding to their demand, Vijay has given his nod.
“We have a cordial relationship with AIADMK. So, I have told his fans to discuss with the local AIADMK leaders and stand in civic polls with their consent,” Mr Chandrasekar said.
The actor has been nurturing soaring political aspirations for quite sometime now.
His Makkal Iyakkam, a people’s movement, supported the All-India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance in the assembly elections as he “favoured a political change in the state for its overall development.”
Asked whether the decision to jump into the fray in the civic polls was a prelude to turn the Iyakkam into a political outfit, Mr Chandrasekar said, “It is a social movement and the decision to let his fans contest the local body elections was also aimed at serving the society in a small way at the grassroots level.”
He said his actor-son went to Delhi to express solidarity with the fasting Lokpal activist Anna Hazare only on behalf of Makkal Iyakkam.
Vijay is participating in the audio launch of his upcoming movie Velayutham to be held at CSI grounds in Madurai on Sunday. He will distribute welfare aid to beneficiaries at the launch ceremony.

Actor Vijay criticizes DMK openly
Chennai Feb 03 ( truthdive): Actor Vijay has openly criticized the ruling party in Tamil Nadu. His plain speak in an interview to Anantha Vikadan, a popular Tamil magazine may add fuel to the burning political scenario on the eve of ensuing Assembly elections.
It may not be known whether the out of the screen activities of Vijay such as forming a social movement, contact with Rahul Gandhi are the outcome of his reaction to the business rivalry with the DMK’s first family involved in film production and distribution or for his long term goal of entering politics to become Chief Minister of Tamil nadu.
There are complaints in Kollywood that the influence of ruling party in screening of films in theaters, by giving priority to the DMK family production only, has gone beyond limits and has caused losses to others.
Vijay has accused that the release of his films during the festival time was prevented or delayed only to facilitate the successful running of the films produced and distributed by DMK men to ease out competition from his films. He has asked how the same forces telecast Vijay films during festival time to earn money. He has wryly commented ” they need my face to erase my face” He has added angrily ” Festivals come for the celebration for all the people. If they rule that “Only we will fire crackers( during Deepavali) and only we will taste sugarcane ( during Pongal) is this a good country?”
Vijay has further accused that he was virtually prevented from attending a meeting organised by his people movement at Erode citing security reasons. The ruling party men threatened the theater owners even after the release of his latest film “Kavalan’
He has declared that “Kavalan” has laid the road map for his future journey. He has drawn references to the insulting incidents in the life of Gandhi, MGR, Jayalalithaa and Vijaykanth which landed them in leadership.
Vijay (H3)
The interview given by Vijay on the above lines is considered a bold outcry. Earlier his professional rival but personal friend actor Ajith too opened his mouth against the pressure from ruling party men but went silent after meeting the Chief Minister at his residence.
There has been some rivalry simmering between Vijay fans and the DMK men since Vijay was given a pet name ” Ilaya thalapathi” meaning ” Junior Commander”. DMK men felt that the pet name of ‘ Thalapathy” already carried by M.K Stalin was being imitated to convey a meaning that Vijay would be the Leader of younger generation next to M.K Stalin.
Ever since the release date of the Vijay Film ” Kavalan” was postponed allegedly owing to pressure from Deputy Chief Minister M.K Stalin’s son Udhayanithi, there were hectic behind the screen activities which culminated in a meeting of Vijay’s father S.A Chandrasekaran with opposition leader J.Jayalalithaa. It seems necessary plans have already been chalked out by these elders for Ilaya thalapathi.
Now DMK has to face 2G Scam, price rise especially in vegetable and grocery effecting overall food inflation, power cut, inaction in Fishermen killing, hostile congress alliance workers and Vijay. Vijay is expected to divert his fan base to work for AIADMK in this election.
It may be recalled that under similar circumstances Rajini fans worked towards the success of DMK once. Now the AIADMK combine have an added advantage. Whether the DMK will face and defeat the campaign of array of film stars in AIADMK front like what happened in the last elections depends on the field level work to be done by both sides during the election time.

M R Venkatesh, Chennai, April 19, DH News Service:

Vijay Antony, a music composer who was staying in an adjacent room, lodged a complaint with the Virguambakkam police.
While members of Vijay’s fan club “Makkal Iyakkam” had taken out cycle rallies on the last day of the campaign in support of the AIADMK-DMDK alliance, the actor’s father and film director S A Chandrasekhar had toured the state for the same purpose.
Meanwhile, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha has written to the Election Commission (EC) seeking more safeguards at all counting centres across Tamil Nadu to ensure free and fair counting of votes scheduled for May 13.
In her letter to state Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar, Jayalalitha asked for additional paramilitary forces at the counting centres.
Urging that the counting process should take place in the presence of an EC-deputed observer, she said the entire counting process from “the removing of seal from each electronic voting machine (EVM) till the votes of each EVM are counted must be videographed by the EC to prevent any malpractice.”
In another significant poll-related development in neighbouring Puducherry, the EC has directed filing of FIRs against two candidates, one from the Congress and another from “All India N R Congress” formed by former chief minister N Rangasamy, for allegedly trying to bribe voters on the eve of the April 13 elections.
The FIRs have been filed against Congress candidate Sivakolundu of Lawspet constituency, and “All India N R Congress” candidate Angalan of the Thirubhuvanai, for allegedly distributing tokens to voters in their respective areas. The tokens, meant to be exchanged for saris, were seized by the poll officials there
Tamil actor Vijay at Ramlila Ground
Popular Tamil actor Vijay on Thursday joined a number of celebrities in expressing support to Anna Hazare’s fast for a strong Lokpal, saying the Gandhian’s stir has triggered a nationwide debate on uprooting corruption.
Vijay flew in from Chennai on Thursday morning and met Hazare at the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of his fast. Saluting Hazare’s “will power”, Vijay said the way the movement is getting public support that too without any political background is praiseworthy.
‘Vettaikaran’ is about an youngster who comes to Chennai for earning his livelihood. Over there, he comes across the baddies deteriorating the society and hatches plans to bash them down for the sake of innocents’ lives.
Cinematographer Ravi Varman, Art Director Milan and Editor V.T. Vijayan have delivered an exclusive show on their parts to make this film a successful endeavor for Vijay.
Let’s hope our ‘Ilayathalapathy’ has his dreams coming true of at least one of his films becoming a hit in this decade.
Shocking Report: Ajith bashes out Vijay on political grounds

Alas! Vijay wouldn’t have expected this shocking statement from ‘Ultimate Star’ Ajith Kumar. Perhaps, the actor and his father is much distressed with her statement of being washed away by Ajith’s statement. When asked whether Ajith Kumar would be stepping into world of Politics as Vijay, he made a simple yet offending statement, ‘I strictly follow the footsteps of Dr. Rajkumar who said – If I am a politico, I must lie and so I hate being so.’ With a charming smile, Ajith Kumar uttered and walked with an ‘ASAL’ style …
Vijay is quite wondering what really urged Ajith Kumar to speak such words… Will he remain elated or the situations turn entangled with his speech.

Vijay has the habit of keeping the Telugu hit songs in his film. In that way, Vijay has taken one song from the recent super hit Telugu film Arya 2 for his film Sura.

K V Anand will be directing Simbhu in the film titled Ko. Since most of the story happens in China, the director and music composer are camping in China to scout for locations and compose music.
Thamannah to pair up with Vijay

Actress Thamannah has no words to express her astonishments now. Excellently brilliant has been her career especially in her second innings. In the past 5 months, all her three films have turned to be her greatest epitomes of crème de la crème performances.
Now, amongst all comes her biggest offer through Vijay as the actor has signed her in for his upcoming 50th film yet to be titled. Right from a very long time, talks have been going on with various filmmakers and technicians for working in this film. It seems that the filmmaker has been finalized and would be revealed later. Sangli Murugan, producer of Vijay’s ‘Kadhalukku Mariyaadhai’ churns out this film.
Vijay appreciates his father
If there could be two personalities, who compliment each other’s works as none does, it will be none other than Vijay and his father S.A. Chandrasekhar. Soon after watching his film, SAC and his wife Shoba will appreciate Vijay saying that his son has done a good job and it is vice versa.
This time, Vijay has showered more praises on his father S.A. Chandrasekhar after watching the film. Sources have mentioned that Vijay never appreciates his father usually after watching his films. Last time, they could hear him singing praises of his dad was for the film ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’. After decades, he has now appreciated his father for this film.
The film features newcomers Kathir and Arundhathi in lead roles and is now acquired of Cit

‘Though Vijay has delivered continuous flops, producers are willing to pay him around Rs. 8Crores as his remuneration’ said one of the leading trading analyst of Tamil Film Industry. Actor Vijay was once a brand ambassador for Coco-Cola brand during the year 2000-03. Now, the leading beverage company has approached him again as they feel he has more mass appeal amongst young lads in rural areas.
The present them of Coco-Cola is ‘Open Happiness’ that is being shot now and the commercial featuring Vijay would be aired from next couple of weeks. Looks like Rajiv Menon is making advertisement commercial.
Vijay has lost hope in Kollywood Directors

Oh no! This shouldn’t have happened as the filmmakers of Tamil film industry would feel more pitiable about Ilayathalapathy’s statement. Our actor, the super-hero of Tamil Cinema has now lost all his hopes on our filmmakers. Even the great ones like Prabhu Deva, Dharani and more off that sort failed to deliver a hit with this successful actor. Now, he has punished everyone by saying that he has no more interests working with these Kollywood pudden-head personalities. All his eyes are on versatile filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma, Shekar Kapoor, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra and even Danny Boyle has been provided with an opportunity to direct his film. Will these filmmakers catch this memorable dreamt project is what that has been creating ripples of sensation on the far-flung corners of the globe.
What do you think? Is it a right thing that Vijay has decided not to work with Kollywood directors? Or else does it make you happy that he has given an open offer to versatile filmmakers to furthermore increase their popularity?
Don’t fail to post in your comments at Kollywood Today…
Vijay ready for another remake

Remember the blockbuster movie Pokkiri that elevated the standard of Vijay to a greater level. And now he is eagerly waiting for something that of his favourite- a remake indeed. Puri Jaganath is the director of Telugu super hit movie Pokkiri starring Mahesh Babu and Ileana in lead role. With his film being remade in Hindi too, the entire Indian film industry is curiously waiting his next movie Bujjigadu - Made in Chennai that will hit screens.
Vijay has decided that if this flick hits the bull’s eyes and then it will add to his long queue of remakes. Why our Ilayathalapathy does has such a great confidence with remakes. Well, there isn’t anything wrong about it for they are his only hopes.
Vijay requests K.S. Ravikumar to direct him

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is actually running through a rapid acid test with his ‘Vettaikaaran’ and ‘Urimai Kural’. Al though these films doesn’t have anything more in unique themes other than being commercial, the actor has mounted his hopes on it. Recently during the audio launch of Surya starrer ‘Aadhavan’, Vijay had requested K.S. Ravikumar to wield megaphone for one of his films.
According to the buzzes, Vijay seems to have requested director K.S. Ravikumar to direct a film as their previous film ‘Minsara Kanna’ didn’t witness good results although it was received well by the audiences.
Looks like it probably it would Vijay’s 51st film for which he had requested him. Meanwhile, Aascar Ravichandran has already signed deal with Vijay for this film.
Vijay took part in the protest fast

Vijay along with his fans took part in a protest fast in support of Sri Lankan Tamilians. This protest which was organised by his fans club took place in 37 places throughout Tamil Nadu.
Vijay speaking on this occasion said,” I came to know that my fans have organised protest fast in 37 places throughout Tamil Nadu. It is not my effort. My fans have made this decision. They asked me that we should show our solidarity in the Sri Lankan Tamilians issue. They asked my consent. I agreed for this and hence I am participating in this fast. There is no politics in this. This fast is to show our solidarity in support of Sri Lankan Tamilians. The battle in Sri Lanka should stop immediately. Innocent Tamilians should not be butchered. We are in a position to go and fight there in support of Tamilians. We can show our feelings by holding this kind of protest fasts.” Vijay’s father director S A Chandrasekaran, mother Shoba and wife Sangeetha also participated in this fast.
Vijay, Thamannah dumped by Kerala crowd

We aren’t sure whether they were really fans of ‘Ilayathalapathy’ or the frustrated fans of Malayalam cinema enraged after watching ‘Kuruvi’ and ‘Villu’.
Hope they were fans and get the story presumed in that way.
Actor Vijay has started shooting for his upcoming film ‘Sura’ directed by SP Rajkumar who recently made ‘Azhagar Malai’. The film is produced by Sangli Murugan and Thamannah stars opposite Vijay in female lead.
The film’s shooting has hit the floors of Kerala’s Alapuzha where Vijay saves Thamannah who’s drowning in sea. Once, the crowd got to know that Vijay is shooting for the film, they immediately barged into the sets and got autographs, clicked photos with him.
Finally, the cops had to manhandle them to disperse the crowd hassling the film’s shooting.
Why Divya Spandana refused Vijay’s offer?
Earlier, ‘Kuthu’ Ramya and now rechristened as ‘Divya Spandana’ has been bringing fortunate offers to the actress. Pairing up with Surya in ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, the actress won laurels for an exceptional role and now she is busy shooting for ‘Kadhal2Kalyanam’ – a genre based on romance-comedy. Says Divya, ‘I am an ardent fan of Vijay, but shaking legs for a song would reduce me to the terms of ‘Item Number dancer. Donning a prominent role in Vaaranam Aayiram fetched me good credits and again I must not spoil it’.
Kadhal2Kalyanam is about corporate based youngsters of different family backgrounds. When they fall in love and have to marry, the two families happen to mingle and then begin the humorous ride. Actress Jayashree makes her comeback after a long time. The film has Aarya’s brother Sathya in lead role while Mouli plays an important character. Apart from this, she is occupied with couple of Kannada projects at the moment.
Why Vijay sleeps on floors?

Oops! It really shocked us to hear that most of the times actor Vijay is found sleeping over the floors at his residence. When approached his closer sources we got to know that there’s a big secret behind this act.
It seems that he sleeps over the floor without any mattresses whenever he is overtired shaking legs for songs and stunt sequences. That’s merely because he’ll bound to lots of body pain and cannot feel alright till the next day. Well, our ancestors did the same thing when they were out from field works and backbreaking task.
So, whenever Vijay leaves out directly from shooting spots to his residence, you can easily find out that our guy is so exhausted.
