VIJAY IN NANBAN Shankar’s ‘N’ Sentiment for the ‘N’th Time in Nanba’N’


VIJAY IN NANBAN Here is one of our observations about the title of “Nanban”. After “Moovar”, “3 Rascals” and in fact “3 Idiots”, the title of the ‘3 idiots’ remake has become “Nanban”. The official announcement came from the producers, director, actor and those concerned with the film.

VIJAY IN NANBAN This actually follows the “N” sentiment of Director Shankar which he uses for his latest film too. He has followed this for the nth time and will also likely do so in future. Except for Jeans, Boys and Sivaji, majority of his films have all been named in a manner that finishes with “N”.

VIJAY IN NANBAN Right from Gentleman to Kadhalan to Indian, Mudhalvan, Anniyan and Endhiran, Shankar has used titles which end with “N”. The coinciding factor is that all these movies have been big hits. Other did fall apart as average – Jeans and Sivaji, whereas Boys is the complete failure.

VIJAY IN NANBAN Following the lead character fiasco and Suriya’s polite refusal to star in the film for his “Nanban”, Vijay is decided back again as the hero with Ileana, Jiiva and Srikanth. Sex-crazy SJ Suryah plays a cameo or an important role in the film along with Anuya.

VIJAY IN NANBAN Sathyaraj plays the famous Cherian character as in “Five Point Someone” or as the father of “Ileana”. Sathyan will also be doing a pivotal role. Manoj Paramahamsa of Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya fame is the cinematographer and Harris Jayaraj will take care of the music.

VIJAY IN NANBAN The film has already gone on floors with Jiiva, Srikanth, SJ Suryah, Sahtyaraj and Sathyan while Vijay will arrive to the shooting spot on the 25th of February, 2011. Well, this is more than a good news for Vijay fans who wanted him to act in the Tamil remake of “3 idiots” which is titled as “Nanban” or in a Shankar’s film.

We have finished all the college exterior scenes in our 2nd schedule in Dehradun… It’s a visually wonderful campus… It is very interesting & new experience for me to work with Vijay, Sathyaraj, Ileana and almost every actor for the first time… Vijay-Sathyaraj combo is fresh and fantastic… As friends Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth’s ‘Physics’ & ‘Chemistry’ is working very well, behind the camera too… To say in a cliché, all of them have started living in their roles… I’m enjoying working in ‘Nanban’ which is completely contrast from ‘Endhiran’ in all aspects…

VIJAY IN NANBAN Harris Jayaraj talks all about Nanban’s music


VIJAY IN NANBAN is the remake of the Hindi smash hit 3 Idiots. This has raised doubts if the music of this film will be imported from the original version. Clarifying such doubts, Harris Jayraj has said that he prefers to compose fresh music for all his films and has done so in Nanban too.


The music director added that copying music from other films is not his forte.


Harris also predicted that Nanban’s tunes will be the talk of the town once the audio releases.


The music director also made it clear that he was never into remix and will not opt for it in future too.

VIJAY IN NANBAN Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay is a thrilled man these days. As first reported by this newspaper, Vijay will be a part of Shankar’s Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit 3 Idiots titled Nanban. The Vettaikkaran star has joined the ensemble cast of Jiiva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj Ileana and Anuya in Dehradun where the next schedule of the much-hyped project has commenced. It’s a significant film in Vijay’s career, one of the reasons being that his long-cherished dream of acting in a Shankar film has come true. Interestingly, Shankar was an associate of Vijay’s father S.A. Chandrashekar in several films, and his mother Shoba Chandrashekar’s debut directorial venture, with an almost similar title, Nanbargal.
Since the film had faced several hiccups before its start, sources said that symbolically Shankar began the shooting with the song ‘All izz Well,’ composed by Harris Jayaraj, which was also part of the original version. Speaking to this newspaper from the famous Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, an elated Vijay says “I am really excited to work with Shankar!” Asked about whether he had really undergone a makeover, including a stylish hairdo, he evades diplomatically, “I am not supposed to speak”. Sources say that our mass hero looks the same as usual and there is no significant change in his hairstyle. But the same source adds that Vijay might go in for a beard for the later schedules, which are planned at Ladakh. Meanwhile, Vijay’s next offering, Pagalavan, with a revolutionary theme, will be with controversial director Seeman and is likely to commence after the state elections.

VIJAY IN NANBAN Language has no barriers, they say. Proving this now is Harris Jayaraj and Madan Karky, who have come out with a song that will have lyrics in more than 10 different languages.
The music composer-lyricist duo is doing this experiement for Vijay-Jiiva-Srikanth starrer 'Nanban', a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 'Three Idiots' and directed by Shankar.
"The song features words from 15 different world languages. Director Shankar and Harris have always encouraged me to experiment with lyrics in their projects. A big thanks to them," says the son of 'Kaviperarasu' Vairamuthu.
On his part, Harris says, "Madan Karky has done a tremendous job by using more than 10 languages in one song. Very interesting and applaudable job indeed." The number is crooned by Vijay Prakash and is said to be one of the highlights of 'Nanban'.
